Police in Newry have arrested a 47-year-old man following a reported burglary in Cloghoge yesterday, Friday 13th March.
Inspector Reynolds said: "We received a report of a burglary in progress in the Chancellor's Road area just after 10am.
"The resident of the property and a relative had detained a man suspected of entering the property while it was unoccupied. "A number of items were reported missing and later located nearby, and substantial damage had been caused to an outhouse building.
"The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody at this time."
Inspector Reynolds continued: "We would appeal to anyone with information, who may have seen a man behaving suspiciously in the area on Thursday night or Friday morning, to contact police. We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.
"The number to call is 101, quoting reference 381 of 13/03/26."
