Police have arrested a man in Kilkeel on suspicion of a number of drug-related offences.
Sergeant Gracey said: "Officers were on patrol in the Scrogg Road area in the early hours of Wednesday, June 18 when they observed a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner.
"The vehicle was stopped a short time later in the Newry Street area and following searches, officers seized a sum of cash and a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs.
"The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possessing criminal property. He remains in custody at this time, assisting with enquiries.
"This detection is another example of how our officers are working to tackle the issue of drugs.
"I appeal to anyone with concerns about suspected drugs activity, or information about suspected drug dealing, to report it to police or to Crimestoppers. Your information can make a difference."
