Following three arrests as part of a cross-border investigation into violent right-wing extremism, detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Branch have charged a man to court.

The 38-year-old was arrested in Ballynahinch on Tuesday 9 December for offences under the Terrorism Act 2000.  He is charged with possession of articles for use in terrorism, collection of information likely to be of use to terrorists and withholding information which might prevent an act of terrorism.

He is expected to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 11 December.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

A 40-year-old woman, arrested in Lurgan as part of the same investigation, has been released to be reported to the PPS.

A 48-year-old man, arrested in Kilkeel, has been released following questioning.

The investigation continues.
