A 30 year old man has been charged with assault on a police designated person, assaulting an ambulance worker, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and attempting theft of vehicle.
He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday 7th April. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The charges are in relation to a report of an assault of a male Northern Ireland Ambulance Service staff member and the attempted theft of an ambulance which occurred at the Lisburn Road area of Belfast shortly after 10:45pm on Sunday 9th March. It was reported the male assaulted a police member of staff in custody on Sunday 9th March.
