A 52-year-old man has been charged with impersonating a police officer and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He is due to appear before Laganside Magistrates Court on Saturday 8th February.

The man was arrested at Lanyon Station on Thursday 6th February, following reports of a man armed with a gun approaching young female passengers travelling on the train from Holywood.

As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
