A 32 year old man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment following his conviction for an attack on a man in Downpatrick last year.
Joe Fegan had pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article during a hearing last month, and was sentenced to an immediate custodial sentence on Wednesday 27 August in connection with the stabbing attack on a 28 year old man.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Keys said: “Fegan’s victim was left injured and bleeding after he had been stabbed in the back close to St Dympna’s Avenue in February 2024.
"As a result he spent a significant period of time in hospital receiving treatment.
"Enquiries at the scene led to the identification of the suspect who was quickly arrested and charged. With this custodial sentence, justice has been done and Fegan has been held to account for his actions.”
