Police have made an arrest following reports of a man in possession of a sword in east Belfast yesterday evening, Thursday 10th October.
Inspector Savage said: “At approximately 5.50pm we received a report on an ongoing altercation involving four men in the Channing Street area, one of whom was brandishing a sword at the others.
“Armed Response Officers attended and the man aged 38 was arrested on suspicion of possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place.
“He remains in police custody at this time.
“This was an example of excellent police work with our officers responding quickly and ensuring that no one was injured during this terrifying incident.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have any witnessed the attack or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1313 of 10/10/24.”
