Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, who launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Mountnorris on Thursday, 4th September, have named the deceased as ‘Chrissy’ Christopher Burns.
Mr Burns, aged 40, who was originally from the Warrenpoint area, was found dead at an address in the Cusher Green area, after police received a report at around 11.30am of a concern for safety.
Officers and colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the property but Mr Burns was located deceased at the scene with serious head and facial injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Robinson said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Burns’ family and loved ones at this distressing time as they try to come to terms with their tragic loss.
“A man, aged 39, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.
“Our team continues to work at pace to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Burns’ death and I would reiterate our appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist us, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 573 04/09/25.
