Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's International Policing Unit, working alongside Danish Police have today, Tuesday 26th May, extradited a man from Northern Ireland to Denmark.

The 33 year-old-man is wanted in Denmark to stand trial for offences of murder and possession of a firearm. The offences occurred in the Aarhus area of Denmark on 8th March 2022.

The man was arrested by Police Service officers in South Belfast on 16th September 2024 on a Danish extradition warrant.  He has been held in prison since his arrest and today completes his successful return to Denmark.

Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: “Todays extradition will no doubt be a significant step forward in this murder investigation. In this case we worked closely with Detectives from the East Jutland Police to locate, arrest and extradite this fugitive. 

“This man tried to hide in Northern Ireland using a false identity but he was identified, located, arrested and now extradited to face justice.

“Our message is clear. Northern Ireland is not a safe haven for any wanted person trying to avoid arrest and the consequences of their previous actions. We will relentlessly pursue all those attempting to evade justice."
