Police have received a report of racially motivated harassment at the Strathfoyle area of Derry/Londonderry.

Chief Inspector Craig said: “Police received a report that a family living in the Strathfoyle area received verbal abuse over a number of weeks. It was also reported to police that mud and water balloons had been thrown at the property.

“A number of young people have been spoken to by police in relation to this matter, which is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime. Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to engage with the community, however racially motivated crime is unacceptable in today’s society and police will deal with any reports robustly.

“We would ask anyone with information which could help with our investigation, to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
