Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Predatory Lending Team have today, Friday 23rd January, arrested a 50-year-old woman in West Belfast.

Detective Inspector Cathy O’Hara said, “She was arrested on suspicion of illegal money lending and associated criminality, and has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.

“Illegal money lenders exploit vulnerable people in Northern Ireland’s most marginalised communities. It is completely false to claim that they are providing a community service.

“Our Predatory Lending Team is a dedicated team of detectives whose job it is to take action against illegal lenders, and to support and safeguard victims.

“If you have information which could help our investigations, or need confidential advice about an illegal debt, please contact us on 028 9070 0563 or email [email protected]

“Alternatively you can report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers.uk.org
