Seven police officers and staff from the Police Service of Northern Ireland have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025, receiving awards for their outstanding service, dedication, and commitment to policing and public safety.

Two Member of the Order of the British Empire Medals (MBE), two British Empire Medals (BEM) and three King’s Police Medals (KPM) have been awarded.

The MBEs go to Inspector Richard Brown and Catherine Burke, latterly Occupational Health and Wellbeing Department.

The BEMs go to Part Time Constable Trevor Watson and police staff member who declined publicity.

The KPMs go to Constable Stephen Dickson, Constable Dennis Kirk and one recipient who declined publicity.

MBE – Inspector Richard Brown
Inspector Brown has over 40 years’ service. He has led on search and security aspects of major policing operations and is at the forefront of the Police Service’s Post Incident Peer Support Team which provides an essential support network to colleagues involved in major or traumatic incidents

MBE – Retired Police Staff Member Catherine Burke
Catherine Burke, had over 33 years’ service and worked in Occupational and Health Department prior to her retirement.  She established the first physiotherapy treatment service for officers and staff over 20 years ago.

BEM – Part Constable Trevor Watson
Part Time Constable Watson has over 45 years’ service, primarily in Co Antrim. The entirety of his police service has been in frontline operational policing – responding to calls for service and engaging with the local community.

KPM – Constable Dennis Kirk
Constable Dennis Kirk, from the Auto Crime Team, has over 26 years’ service. He has consistently demonstrated exceptional levels of pro-activity.  His personal contribution in tackling vehicle crime has been repeatedly commended.

KPM – Constable Stephen Dickson
Constable Stephen Dickson has over 30 years’ service and is attached to the Collision Investigation Unit.  He has been instrumental in delivering creative road safety messages across Northern Ireland through the Road Safe roadshow. In 2024 he was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Northern Ireland Road Safety Awards.
