Three men have been sentenced following an assault on two men in licensed premises in Dromara on 15th December 2023.
Ryan Cummings (23) from the Dromara area, Mark Johnston (54) and 52-year-old Andrew Johnston, both from Belfast, were also sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, unlawful and malicious wounding and criminal damage.
Mark Johnston was further sentenced for attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
Appearing in Craigavon Crown Court today, Thursday 23rd October, Mark Johnston was handed a 33 month custodial sentence and will spend 33 months on licence.
Meanwhile, Andrew Johnston was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence, while Ryan Cummings was sentenced to 12 months in custody, and two years on licence.
Detective Inspector Keon said: “The charges followed a report that three men had assaulted the two victims after they were asked to leave the premises in the Rathfriland Road area.
“One of the injured parties was knocked unconscious and sustained injuries including a broken tooth and a subdural haematoma, as well as requiring seven stitches to his forehead.
“The other suffered cuts to his face and bruising to his body and arms.”
Detective Inspector Keon continued: “Today’s sentencing offers reassurance that we will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts so that the victims receive the justice they deserve.
“Anyone who believes they are a victim of crime, contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
