Detectives investigating a report of an attempted robbery at commercial premises at the Malone Road area of South Belfast, have arrested two men.
Detective Sergeant Leeman said: “Shortly after 3:05am, it was reported that two men entered a shop in the area. It was reported that one of the men threatened a staff member with a knife and the other man attempted to open a nearby till with a screwdriver during the incident. The two men then made off on foot empty handed towards the Rathdrum Road area.
“A short time later, two men who matched the description of those involved in the earlier robbery were located at a property at the Windsor Road area. Officers attended and the two men were detained.
“Two men aged 43 and 37 years old were arrested in relation to the investigation, with both men in police custody at this time.
