Two men have been arrested following a vehicle theft outside Lisburn.
It follows a report of aggravated vehicle taking and an attempted hijacking on Friday night, 19th June.
A Hyundai Tucson collided with a tree at around 9pm in the Lower Ballinderry Road area of Lisburn.
Two men exited the vehicle and stopped a vehicle. The driver was asked for a lift and while this conversation was going on, the second man made an attempt to open the boot of the vehicle while the first man tried to open the driver’s door. These attempts were unsuccessful.
The two men then made off on foot before stopping another vehicle, grabbing the keys of the Vauxhall Vivaro van before dragging the driver and passenger from the vehicle.
The vehicle was then driven to Aghalee where officers found it crashed in a wall with both men injured at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed either collision, or who may have any information which could assist with the investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1752 19/06/26
