Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have today, Tuesday, 2nd December, extradited a 56-year-old man from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland.

The man, who had been serving a life sentence in prison following a murder conviction in 2009, was reported as being unlawfully at large in December 2024 after being on day-release and failing to return.

He is due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
