The security alert in west Belfast has now ended.

A suspicious object was discovered in the Ardnamonagh Parade area on the morning of Friday 24th October and a public safety operation then followed, with a number of local residents being evacuated from their homes. Those residents have now returned home and all roads have re-opened.

Ammunition Technical Officers attended and examined the device, which has been confirmed as being a viable device. The item has now been taken away for further forensic testing.
