Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Killinchy Road, Comber.

Inspector Edgar said: “A report was received at approximately 7.45pm on Monday evening, 2nd February of a collision involving a red Ibiza Toca and grey Toyota RAV4.

“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from other emergency services. Medical attention was provided at the scene – and the occupants of both vehicles were transported to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

“A woman aged in her 70s, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, is described as being in a critical condition at this time. Other injuries are reported as being serious, but not life-threatening.

“Meanwhile, a driver of one of the vehicles, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving-related offences and remains in custody at this time.

“The road which was closed for a time to facilitate emergency services access, has now fully reopened to road users.

“Our investigation is underway, with enquiries ongoing. Anyone with information about what happened, or who has dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the collision can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1476 02/02/26.”
