Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an aggravated burglary in Newtownards on Monday night, 15th June.

A police spokesperson said: “We received a report at around 11.25pm that a house in the Greenwell Street area had been entered and a man inside the property attacked.

“Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The injured man reported that he had been in bed when he was awoken by someone hitting him on the head numerous times. As a result, he sustained significant head injuries and was taken on to hospital for treatment.

“Our enquiries into what happened are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious, or who has any information, including CCTV, dash-cam, ring-doorbell or other footage, to contact us on the 101 number, quoting reference 1845 of 15/06/26.
