Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a number of motorcycles travelling at dangerous speeds were pursued by officers across the Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown areas in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, 25th July.

Sergeant Patterson said: “Officers on mobile patrol saw a convoy of motorcycles travelling at speed through the Banbridge area just after midnight. Three of these motorcycles were then noted driving at significant excess speed along the Plantation Road in Lurgan.

“When signalled to stop by officers, the motorcyclists instead accelerated and drove off at higher speed.

“In order to minimise the risk to both the public and the drivers, a pursuit was commenced by our trained officers along Plantation Road. A stinger device was subsequently deployed in the Portadown area, in an attempt to bring the pursuit of one of the vehicles to a safe and controlled conclusion. 

“The vehicle – a white 700cc Husquvarna Supermoto – was abandoned in the Westland Road area, while the driver then made off on foot. The motorcycle was subsequently seized by our officers and will now be disposed of, unless the driver comes forward.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in the Banbridge area just before midnight on Friday, 24th July – or into the early hours of Saturday morning, 25th July – and saw the motorcyclists, to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 2 of 25/07/26
