Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information and witnesses following the report of an aggravated burglary.
Detective Constable McKeown said: “Police received a report today, Wednesday 6th May, at approximately 1am that two masked men entered a house in the Altona Drive area of the town.
“They assaulted the occupant, a 44-year-old old man, who sustained injuries to his head and torso believed to have been caused by a hammer.
“Colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended, and the man was taken onward to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
“Enquiries are ongoing to determine a motive and who was involved. We would ask anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious, or who has any information, including CCTV, dash-cam or other footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 43 06/05/26.”
