Detectives in Coleraine are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious early-morning assault.
Detective Inspector Hanbidge said: “We received a report at approximately 3.30am this morning, Wednesday 6th May, of a suspected assault at a flat in the Westbourne Crescent area of the town.
“On the arrival of officers, damage was observed to the living room and kitchen area of the property. A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
“A man aged 31 was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with Intent. Our enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of what happened.
"Anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area prior to the time of the report is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 116 06/05/26.
“Please also get in touch if you have any relevant dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage that could help with our investigation.”
