Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Newcastle on Friday morning, 5th June.
A report was received at approximately 1.45am of a man with a head injury in the Main Street area - whose injuries were consistent with an alleged assault.
Officers attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital by colleagues in the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service for treatment to injuries believed to be serious at this time.
A 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage and remains in custody.
