Detectives have made two arrests following an arson attack in Lisburn on Saturday evening, 25th July.

Detective Inspector Ryan said: “We received a report at around 4.35pm of two women outside an apartment building in the Gregg Street area threatening to break the windows.

“Officers attended and arrested two women – a 34-year-old and a 38-year-old – on suspicion of threats to damage property and attempted criminal damage.

“Police were then alerted by nearby residents about a fire to the rear of the apartment and colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service subsequently attended to extinguish this. There were no injuries reported.

“The 34-year-old woman was further arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent, possession of a Class C controlled drug and burglary.

“The 38-year-old woman, who resisted police and kicked out at officers, was also further arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent, criminal damage, possessing an article with blade or point in a public place, resisting police and burglary.

“Both women remain in police custody at this time.
