Police continue to appeal for information following a report of attempted theft in south Belfast on Thursday, 12th February, when two males on electric bikes attempted to snatch a handbag from a woman in the Dublin Road area of the city.

The woman was knocked to the ground during the incident and the males made off in the direction of east Belfast. After a short pursuit, one of the males, aged 17, was apprehended by officers in the Mersey Street area and arrested on suspicion of theft, along with a number of motoring offences.

He has since been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

Sergeant Graham said: “We would urge the victim of this incident, who is yet to come forward, to get in touch with police.

 “We’re also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or to anyone with footage that could assist enquiries and identify the second male, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 326 12/02/25.”
