Kyle Millar, aged 28, has been sentenced today, Friday 13th February, at Londonderry Magistrates' Court for domestic abuse offences relating to inappropriate electronic communications.

Millar was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment, suspended for three years.

Millar was a serving police officer at the time his offences were committed. Following a swift internal investigation by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Professional Standards Department, he is no longer a serving officer having been dismissed from the PSNI.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gilbert said: “Anyone who commits domestic abuse crimes of any nature in our community, no matter who they are or what role they play in society, they will be investigated thoroughly and brought before the courts.

“As a Police Service, we expect the highest standards of professionalism and integrity from all of our police officers, both on and off duty, in accordance with the standards contained in the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Code of Ethics.

“We have demonstrated again today, that there is no room in our Police Service for people who commit any wrongdoing.”
