Police have charged a man to court following an assault involving a hammer in the Blenheim Drive area of Newtownards on Wednesday, 8th January.

The 59-year-old has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 9th December. As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
