A man in his 30s has been charged to court following a report of criminal damage in north Belfast at approximately 10.50pm on Saturday 6th June.

The man, 36, has been charged with a number of offences including criminal damage, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place and assault on police.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday 8th June.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charge follows an incident in the Spamount Street area of north Belfast, when damage was caused to a car by a man armed with a knife. A police officer sustained minor  injuries during the arrest.
