A 35-year-old man has today been extradited from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland.
The man was arrested in the Republic of Ireland on 9th April 2025 on foot of an extradition warrant. Today, Friday 30th May completed extradition proceedings with his successful return to Northern Ireland.
He was subject to an investigation by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Rape Crime Unit. He is sought to stand trial in relation to a rape that occurred in Belfast in October 2023. The man skipped Court bail in June 2024 and has been sought for arrest since. He is due to appear before Laganside Magistrates Court later today.
