Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses in relation to two arson incidents in Derry / Londonderry in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 12th July.

Inspector Hughes said: “At approximately 3.45am, officers received a report that two vehicles had been set alight outside a residential property in the Ivy Mead area.

“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance, and extinguished the fire.

“The occupants of the house were inside at the time of the incident, but thankfully there were no reports of any injuries.

“A short time later, at around 4.10am, it was reported that a car had been set on fire outside licensed premises in the Drumahoe Road area.

“NIFRS colleagues attended and extinguished the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.”

Inspector Hughes continued: “Our enquiries to establish the circumstances of both incidents, which we believe at this time may be possibly linked, are ongoing.
