A security alert in the Manse Road area of Castlereagh has now ended.
Police received a report of a suspicious device in the area at approximately 2.40pm on Friday afternoon, 10th July.
Chief Inspector Adams said: “Officers attended the scene, together with assistance from Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) who conducted a controlled explosion.
“The device has been declared as an elaborate hoax – and all cordons have been lifted from the area.
“We appreciate the disruption as this public safety operation was carried out, and we thank members of the public, including road users, for their understanding and patience during this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 920 10/07/26.”
