Police maintain their presence in the Roosevelt Street area of south Belfast this morning, Thursday 9th July following a security alert, however cordons have been lifted and residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.
Multiple items have been recovered and removed for further examination as specialist officers continue to search a property.
Two people, a man and a woman both aged 37, remain in custody this morning.
South Belfast Local Policing Inspector Stallard said: “We appreciate the inconvenience caused to residents when they were out of their homes, and we thank them for their patience and co-operation as this public safety operation was conducted.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with any information which might assist us to contact 101, quoting reference number 9 09/07/26.
