A 40-year-old man, who was arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault in north Belfast’s Duncairn Parade, has today, 23 July, been released unconditionally. He had previously been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
A 32-year-old man arrested as part of the same investigation has also been released unconditionally.
Three men – aged 32, 40 and 41 – were arrested following the report of an assault on Monday 20 July.
In a subsequent update, detectives advised that, sadly, the injured man, Paul Mackin Junior, had passed away in hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Rea added: “Two of the three men arrested – aged 32 and 40 – have now both been released unconditionally.
“The 41-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody at this time.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1454 of 20/07/26.”
