Why did you join the Police Service?

I joined the Police Service because I wanted a career that was active, varied and meaningful, rather than one spent behind a desk. Policing offered the opportunity to work in a practical, hands-on role where I could engage directly with the community and make a tangible difference.

The constantly changing nature of the role means there is always something new to learn, whether that is a new aspect of the job or a different way of managing a situation

What do you enjoy most about your role as a Probationary Police Officer?

I enjoy the freedom of the job and the fact that every day is different. In my current post, I deal with a mix of both rural and urban issues. This variety results in a wide range of incidents and challenges, making each shift both engaging and rewarding.

What do you find most challenging?

I found the policing college challenging having to learn everything required to become a successful Police Officer. Although this was challenging, I had a fantastic time and I would do it all over again to achieve this career within the police.

What do you hope to achieve in your career?

I hope to continue working in response policing throughout my career. I believe this is the backbone of the organisation and being a first responder is a privilege.
