Why did you join the Police Service?

I wanted a career where I could genuinely help people and make a difference, even in small ways. I had positive experiences with the police before joining which stayed with me and inspired me to pursue the role. I hope to have that same lasting, positive impact on members of the public that I serve.

What do you enjoy most about your role as a probationary police officer?

I enjoy the teamwork, there is a real family environment within the team, where everyone looks out for one another. While some days can be tough it’s incredibly rewarding to finish a shift knowing you’ve made even a small difference to someone’s day. No two days are the same.

What do you find most challenging?

It can be challenging in different ways, particularly when dealing with difficult or emotionally demanding situations. Learning to manage pressure and make decisions in fast paced environments is part of the job, especially as a probationary officer.

What do you hope to achieve in your career?

My focus currently is on learning as much as I can, supporting my colleagues and providing the best possible service to the public. Ultimately I want the people I interact with to come away from their experience feeling reassured and supported. I am open to wherever my career will lead me, however I am extremely happy working within the response team at present.
