Three people have been arrested following a drugs search in north Belfast.

At approximately 9.30pm on Tuesday, 21st July officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Organised Crime Branch searched two vehicles in the Hopewell Avenue area.

Detective Sergeant Conlan said: “As a result of the proactive searches, officers seized approximately £60,000 worth of suspected Class A controlled drugs, a small quantity of suspected Class B controlled drugs, and mobile phones.

“Two men aged 20, and a 24-year-old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.

“They remain in police custody at this time as enquiries continue. We will continue to be relentless in our commitment to tackle the illegal supply and use of drugs, and will continue to investigate those who profit from the consequent misery and harm.

“Drug supply and misuse is a vicious cycle that we need to collectively break, and we all have a part to play. I would appeal to anyone with information about illegal drug use or supply, to call police on the non-emergency number 101.”
