Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon

Welcome to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon District. We are privileged to provide local policing services to the 205,000 people who are citizens of Northern Ireland’s second-largest Council.

Our District encompasses nearly eight thousand businesses, last year over three-quarters of a million overnight stays were enjoyed by tourists here and we have a strong and vibrant international population.

From our breath-taking cathedrals, to Discovery on Lough Neagh, from the Bronte Homeland right across a multitude of historic sites, galleries and specialist museums, then on to the depths of the universe as seen from right here in Armagh, we are proud to be part of a rapidly-expanding and exciting community.

Temporary Superintendent Bernard O'Connor is the District Commander and Chief Inspector Tim Flanigan is responsible for all operational and performance matters.

Your Local Policing Area

Communities living in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon District now have two Local Policing Team’s (LPTs), based in Lurgan and Armagh Police Stations, providing 24 hour cover to continue keeping local people safe right across the District. These officers are supported by four Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs), based in Armagh, Portadown (Mahon Road), Banbridge and Lurgan Police Stations. We have listened to our communities and increased our neighbourhood teams across all of the areas, including Armagh City, Lurgan, Portadown and Armagh with every ward having an identified officer.

Our Commitment to your District

Due to the constantly changing and increasingly complex demands on policing, we too are constantly adapting our response to deliver ongoing improvements in our service delivery and our performance.

Working in tandem with our Policing and Community Safety Partnership, we have a broad range of operations, initiatives and projects running 24 hours a day, every day, with the sole aim of Keeping People Safe. We do this while also delivering all of our ongoing commitments. Providing emergency response to those who need it. Dealing with serious crime with our specialist colleagues, and local crime with our partners. Tackling the modern scourges of Human Trafficking and narcotics. Addressing Anti-Social Behaviour, driving down burglary and making our roads safer. We do all this despite the threat from violent dissident republican paramilitaries, demonstrating continually that their desire to do harm will never match our commitment to our community.

We launched Operation Exposure, a District-wide initiative to identify suspected offenders through controlled image publication; a renewed public information campaign to further reduce burglary rates; Operation Seasons Greetings, to make our roads and our streets safer in the run-up to Christmas, and a Drink/Driving Operation to detain those who continue to take appalling risks on our roads. Every week we add more. Every day we do more, and we will never let up.
