Detectives investigating Kingsmill murders arrest a man

Detectives from the PSNI’s Legacy Investigation Branch investigating the murders at Kingsmill in 1976 have  arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of the murder of 10 men and the attempted murder of one man.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Harrison, from LIB, said: “The male was arrested in the Newry area today, Friday 5 August, and is currently assisting with enquiries.

“I would also appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the murders at Kingsmill to contact police on 101 or alternatively, contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
